The story of two friends, almost brothers, between love, crime and ambition in a world of the future that looks frighteningly like ours.

In the not so distant future, Taranto is a ghost town surrounded by barbed wire in which no one, not even the police, dares to enter. Only the poorest remained, fighting for survival, while a criminal gang, the Ants, led by the charismatic Testacalda (Alessandro Borghi), is competing for the territory with another gang. Two 13-year-old orphans, raised together, dream of joining that gang. Pietro, known as Mondocane – because he passed the test to join the group – imposes Christian to the group that mocks him. But something is cracking in their balance, threatening everything they believe in.
