Patrick, a strange and solitary man, lives in a mobile home in the most remote part of an isolated campsite. After a violent storm breaks out, a mysterious young woman knocks on his door seeking shelter from the bad weather. Inside the house, increasingly unnatural events begin to occur, pushing the already paranoid Patrick into an even deeper state of unease. The longer the night progresses and the more the young woman learns about Patrick, the harder it becomes for her to leave. Soon, she starts to question Patrick’s intentions, while Patrick begins to doubt his own sanity…
DIRECTOR’S NOTE
HOW DID YOU BUILD TENSION AND SUSPENSE THROUGHOUT THE FILM?
From the very writing stage, we knew that pacing would be a crucial element for the success of the film. Setting the entire story in one location was great for the budget and the production schedule, but it also posed a significant challenge in maintaining the audience’s attention. We focused heavily on pacing, using it as a tool to create mystery and suspense, structuring the story so that it unfolded slowly, withholding information until the right moment.
During the editing process, there was a lot of trial and error to find the right rhythm! Setting the film in a single location — in this case, an isolated mobile home — added an inherent tension to the narrative. In a classic cinematic structure, the audience gets relief by moving to a new scene or place. You’ll Never Find Me, however, keeps the viewer trapped in the trailer with the two characters.
It is this claustrophobic space that contributes to a growing sense of unease and entrapment. Duncan Campbell, our sound designer, added further suspense with the sound design of the monstrous storm, which forces the characters to stay together. The storm becomes a constant reminder of their isolation. It interacts with the unstable trailer, making it creak and groan, thus creating an uncertain and unsettling soundscape.
