On the eve of his twenty-ninth birthday, Nino Clavel is shaken by devastating news. A life marked by postponed decisions and lightly made commitments suddenly turns into a race against time: Nino has three days to make crucial choices about his future and complete two essential tasks.
As he begins to look at his everyday life with new eyes, even the smallest moments take on unexpected meaning: conversations with longtime friends, a brief encounter with an ex, and a moment of deep intimacy with his mother (Jeanne Balibar). Struggling to confide in those around him, Nino carries the weight of anticipation while Paris itself seems suspended in a strange, almost dreamlike atmosphere. Wandering through the city, he gradually learns to listen—to the world, to others, and to himself.
Théodore Pellerin delivers a subtle and powerful performance, capturing the protagonist’s inner turmoil with remarkable sensitivity and grace. For this role, he received the Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award at the Cannes Film Festival and the César Award for Most Promising Actor.
The film also won the César for Best First Feature and the Grand Jury Prize at the Rome Film Festival.
With Nino, Pauline Loquès crafts a delicate and deeply human portrait of a young man facing the first great challenge of his life with unexpected resilience. The result is a moving reflection on what we choose to share—and what we keep to ourselves—when time suddenly begins to feel shorter.
