I cannibali

1970 - Drama

The streets of a large city are littered with corpses, the result of a violent repression of a protest crushed by the police. A decree from the totalitarian regime orders that the bodies not be removed, under penalty of death. The population passes by this gruesome scene with indifference. Only Antigone, determined, wants to give her brother a proper burial, but she finds no support from her family or her fiancé, the son of the prime minister. The only help comes from a mysterious stranger named Tiresia, who speaks an unknown language. Together, the two young people begin the difficult task of burying the dead, but they are arrested and tortured. However, their actions become a symbol of resistance, inspiring many other young people who, from that moment on, begin collecting and burying the bodies of the rebels.
