Saint Omer wins the César Award for Best First Feature Film6 March 2023
Saint Omer by Alice Diop obtains a new extraordinary success, after winning the prestigious César Award for Best First Feature Film, on 24 January in Paris.
Saint Omer, winner of two Golden Lions at Venezia79, is also “Film of the Critics” on designation of the National Union of Italian Film Critics – SNCCI.
A writer attends the trial of a young woman accused of killing her 15-month-old daughter, in order to take a contemporary take on Medea’s myth. But as the trial goes on, nothing will happen as expected and the writer, who is four months pregnant, will find herself questioning every certainty about her motherhood.
