The Ghost (1963), a Gothic masterpiece directed by Riccardo Freda, returns in a spectacular 4K restoration, presented in the Venice Classics section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. The cast features the unforgettable Barbara Steele and Peter Baldwin.

Young and seductive Margaret Hichcock, together with her lover, Dr. Livingstone, devises a deadly plan to poison her husband and seize his fortune. But as their greed grows, something dark begins to creep into their lives. Trapped in an endless nightmare, the two are haunted by disturbing apparitions of their victim’s ghost.

The restoration, carried out by Severin Films in collaboration with Minerva Pictures, represents a major philological and technical undertaking aimed at restoring the film’s original visual experience for contemporary audiences. The film will have its world premiere between August 27 and September 6, 2025, as part of the Festival.
