While waiting to leave for Vietnam, three friends experience the hopes and fears of America at the end of the 1960s. Paul (Jonathan Warden) does everything he can to be declared unfit for military service and avoid being sent to Vietnam; Lloyd (Gerrit Graham), obsessed with the Kennedy assassination, conducts his own investigation and is made to disappear like the other inconvenient witnesses; Joe (Robert De Niro), meanwhile, is obsessed with cinematic voyeurism and spends his time filming women undressing in front of their windows.
Brian De Palma’s third feature film, Greetings (Ciao America!), sees one of the key directors of the New Hollywood renaissance, alongside Coppola and Scorsese, portray a crucial moment in the political and social life of the United States through a comedy that gradually takes on darker tones.
