The story of Alcide De Gasperi, founder and leading figure of the Christian Democracy party, told over a period from 1944 to 1954. In his penultimate film, Roberto Rossellini explores a crucial period for post-fascist Italy, delving into the thoughts and life of one of the most significant political figures of the time.

Anno uno has undergone a complete 4K restoration, carried out by the Locarno Film Festival and Cinegrell, in collaboration with Minerva Pictures, Coproduction Office and Cinecittà.

The film will be screened in the Histoire(s) du Cinéma – Locarno Heritage section of the Locarno Film Festival 2025.
