We are proud to announce that “The Secret Agent”, directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho and starring Wagner Moura, has been selected as Brazil’s official submission for the 2026 Academy Awards®!
After winning Best Director and Best Actor at the latest Cannes Film Festival, the film — distributed in Italy by Minerva Pictures and Filmclub Distribuzione — will be released in Italian cinemas in January 2026.
With “The Secret Agent”, Mendonça Filho once again proves his extraordinary ability to portray contemporary Brazil with an authorial yet accessible vision, masterfully blending entertainment and social reflection like few other filmmakers in the world.
